What’s in Your Hands?
God never calls empty-handed people to do full-hearted work. The truth is, He’s already placed something in you. Spiritual gifts. Life experiences. Skills. Passions. Even your wounds. And He intends for all of it to be used to build His Kingdom.
10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: (ESV)
📝 You don’t have to be someone else to serve powerfully. You just have to be available with what you already have.
The Lie of Not Being “Gifted Enough”
Many believers sit on the sidelines because they feel unequipped. “I’m not a speaker.” “I don’t have leadership qualities.” “I’m not creative.” But that lie keeps the Body of Christ limping, not thriving.
You were never meant to do everything. But you were always meant to do something.
6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; (ESV)
📝 The Spirit of God custom-designed you for this moment in history. You’re not a spare part. You’re a strategic one.
And it’s not just about church ministries. Your career, your hobbies, your compassion, your network—God can use it all.
Discovering What God Has Planted in You
So how do you know what your gifts are?
Ask these questions:
What comes naturally to me that blesses others?
Where do I feel most alive and useful when helping?
What needs do I notice and care deeply about?
What do others often thank me or seek me out for?
📝 Often, our gifts are hiding in plain sight—woven into our everyday lives.
Still unsure? Try. Explore. Serve in different ways and settings. God often clarifies calling through movement, not silence.
12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, (ESV)
You were made for action, not analysis paralysis.
When Ordinary Obedience Becomes Extraordinary Impact
God isn’t waiting for you to be perfect. He’s just waiting for your “yes.” The widow’s oil. The boy’s lunch. The shepherd’s sling. None were spectacular—but all became supernatural when surrendered.
2 The LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A staff.” (ESV)
That staff would part seas, strike rocks, and lead a nation. But it began as just a stick in the hand of a shepherd.
📝 Never underestimate what God can do with a surrendered gift.
The Church doesn’t need a few flashy gifts on display. It needs the whole Body, moving together, each doing their part in love.
Don’t Let Comparison Kill Your Contribution
In a world obsessed with platforms and performance, it’s easy to feel like our gifts don’t matter. But Heaven doesn’t measure value by visibility. You may never hold a microphone—but your hospitality may heal a heart. You may never write a book—but your quiet encouragement might keep someone from walking away.
22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, (ESV)
📝 Your gift is needed. Not when you’re better. Not when you’re older. Now.
Final Thought
The King doesn’t just call you to serve—He equips you for it. Your gifts are not random. They’re entrusted. And when you begin to use them, not only are others blessed, but you discover more of who God made you to be.
So stop waiting. Start serving. What God placed in you isn’t just for you—it’s for His glory and the good of His people.
Ask Yourself:
What natural strengths or spiritual gifts do I see in myself?
Where have I hesitated to serve out of insecurity or comparison?
How can I begin using what I have—today—for Kingdom impact?
