If you're honest, the thought of sharing your faith can stir up fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of awkwardness. Fear of saying the wrong thing.
But here's the truth: the gospel is not about us. It's about Christ. And He never asked us to be perfect messengers — just faithful ones.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (ESV)
God calls every believer to step out boldly, not because we are eloquent or flawless, but because His Spirit empowers us. Fear may whisper that you’re not enough — but Jesus already is.
Why Sharing the Gospel Feels Scary
Let's name it:
We don't want to be seen as 'weird' or 'pushy.'
We fear damaging relationships.
We doubt our ability to explain the gospel 'correctly.'
We worry about being asked questions we can’t answer.
But notice: all these fears are centered around us — our image, our knowledge, our comfort. The gospel, however, is not a call to promote ourselves. It's a call to lift high the name of Jesus.
7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, (ESV)
Courage comes when we shift our focus from self-preservation to Christ-proclamation.
Biblical Boldness: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Faith
Scripture is filled with examples of everyday believers boldly proclaiming Christ despite fear:
Peter, who once denied Jesus, later preached publicly and thousands were saved (Acts 2).
Paul, beaten and imprisoned, still declared the good news at every opportunity (Acts 16).
Stephen, who fearlessly testified before the Sanhedrin, even as stones were raised against him (Acts 7).
None of these heroes were fearless because they were special. They were fearless because they trusted the power of the gospel more than the fear of man.
25 The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe. (ESV)
Practical Ways to Share Boldly
Here’s how to start walking this out:
Pray for open doors — Ask God daily to bring opportunities to share.
Start small — You don’t have to preach on a street corner. Begin with conversations, testimonies, kindness.
Know the core message — Christ died for our sins, rose again, and offers salvation through faith — that's the gospel.
Focus on relationships — People listen more when they know you genuinely care.
Trust the Spirit to guide you — You are never witnessing alone.
12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” (ESV)
God isn’t asking you to deliver a perfect speech. He’s asking you to be available.
What Happens When You Step Out
You might be rejected.
You might be mocked.
You might plant seeds that take years to grow.
Or you might be the reason someone crosses from death to life.
The outcome isn’t yours to control — but the obedience is.
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. (ESV)
Boldness doesn’t guarantee success by worldly standards. Boldness is faithfulness in action — and in Christ’s eyes, that is success.
Final Thought: Living Unashamed
You were not made for silent Christianity.
You were not saved to blend in.
You were chosen to stand out, reflect His glory, and invite others into the Kingdom.
The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in you.
11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. (ESV)
You have nothing to fear. So speak. Share. Shine. And leave the results to the King.
Challenge for Today: Pray for one opportunity to speak Christ’s name today — and when it comes, step into it boldly.
Ask Yourself: Am I more concerned with people’s approval — or with their eternity?
Join the Discussion: What fears or barriers have held you back from sharing your faith? How have you seen God show up when you stepped out anyway?
