You’ve Always Felt It, Haven’t You?

You watch a movie where a hero rises up against an evil system…And something inside you stirs.A part of you leans forward. You feel the injustice. You want the rebellion to succeed.

That’s not just good storytelling. That’s something deeper.

It’s your spirit recognizing the real battle you were born into.

From The Matrix to Star Wars to The Hunger Games, we love resistance stories. We crave them. But why?

Because, whether we realize it or not—Jesus is the Resistance.

You Were Born Behind Enemy Lines

The Bible doesn’t say this world is safe. Or neutral. Or fair.

It says we were born into a realm that’s been hijacked.

📜 1 John 5:19

19 We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. (ESV)

That’s not metaphor. That’s Scripture.

The world around us—its systems, its idols, its distractions—is shaped by a dark spiritual force trying to blind you to truth.

📜 2 Corinthians 4:4

4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (ESV)

📝 This isn’t fear-mongering. It’s just reality. And once you begin to see it, everything changes.

You start asking:

  • Why do so many movies echo the same story?

  • Why are we so drawn to tales of rebellion, rescue, and redemption?

Because they're whispers of something real. Something eternal.

What the Movies Keep Repeating (And Why)

The most famous film franchises all follow the same arc:

  • There’s an evil system or empire.

  • The people are blind or afraid.

  • A leader rises—often unexpected, humble, rejected.

  • They sacrifice themselves to set others free.

  • A few brave followers rise up with them.

This isn’t accidental. It’s spiritual.

🔍 The Matrix – “The world pulled over your eyes”

Neo thinks the world is real—until he’s awakened. Then he realizes:Everything is fake. Everything is controlled. And he’s the one who can break the system.

📝 Just like Neo, Jesus came to reveal the truth we were blinded to.He wasn’t just a messenger—He was the key to freedom.

📜 John 8:32

32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (ESV)

🔍 Star Wars – One light in the darkness

Luke doesn’t start as a warrior. He’s ordinary. But he’s chosen. And he refuses to fight darkness with darkness. He overcomes evil by appealing to the good that still remains.

📝 Jesus didn’t use violence to destroy the enemy—He used sacrificial love.He didn’t kill His enemies. He died for them.

📜 Romans 5:8

8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (ESV)

🔍 The Hunger Games – Defying a rigged system

Katniss doesn’t want to be the face of a revolution—but she refuses to be controlled. She exposes the lie by living in truth.

📝 Jesus stood in front of powerful religious and political systems—and didn’t flinch. He didn’t play by their rules. He told the truth, and they killed Him for it.

📜 John 18:37

37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” (ESV)

🔍 The Lord of the Rings – The burden of evil, carried

Frodo isn’t a warrior. He’s small, weak, scared. But he’s willing to carry the weight no one else will, even if it costs him everything.

📝 Jesus carried the greatest burden of all—your sin.And He walked straight into the darkness… and broke it from the inside out.

📜 Isaiah 53:5

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. (ESV)

🔍 Narnia – The Lion lays down His life

Aslan gives himself up for Edmund, the traitor. He is mocked, shamed, and killed. But death cannot hold Him.

📝 This is no accident. C.S. Lewis wrote this to show children the gospel. But even adults miss the depth: Jesus is the Lion. And He’s not safe—but He is good.

📜 Revelation 5:5

5 And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.” (ESV)

What You’ve Always Sensed Is Real

There’s a reason you’ve cheered for the rebellion. There’s a reason the villain always looks eerily familiar. There’s a reason the hero always gives something up to save others.

The reason is Jesus.

He didn’t come to build a fan base. He came to destroy a kingdom of darkness.

📜 Colossians 1:13

13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, (ESV)

📝 Jesus is not just a Savior—He is a resistance leader. And He’s calling you to wake up and join Him.

Final Thought

If you’ve felt something stir in your spirit when watching these films… that wasn’t fiction.

It was your soul recognizing the truth it was made to know.

This world isn’t what it seems. The distractions, the divisions, the despair—none of it is accidental.

But you weren’t left powerless.

Jesus is the Resistance. He always has been. And now, He’s inviting you to wake up, follow Him, and join the real fight.

Ask Yourself:

  • Where have I been blind to the systems of the world shaping me?

  • Have I been watching the battle from the sidelines—or stepping into it with Jesus?
