The Call to Bow Before We Move
We often think of service as something we do—volunteering at church, helping others, or joining a ministry team. But in the Kingdom of God, service isn’t merely action—it’s the overflow of a surrendered heart. Before our hands get busy, our hearts must bow. The first step in becoming a true servant of the King is laying down our pride, plans, and preferences.
Because to serve like Jesus, we must first belong to Him.

We Want to Lead, Not Serve
Let’s be honest: most of us don’t naturally want to serve. We want to be seen, valued, and promoted. Even in Christian spaces, we chase influence over obedience, status over humility. We think that doing “big things for God” means leading, preaching, or going viral—not quietly washing feet.
But the posture of a servant begins where self dies.
Even Jesus’ own disciples struggled with this. In Mark 10, James and John asked for positions of honor next to Jesus. The other ten were indignant—not because they were more humble, but because they wanted those seats too.
