We’ve torn down the lie that “God made me this way.” We’ve exposed the truth of original sin, the deceit of desire, the trap of sinful identity, and the reality of the wide road that leads to destruction. But without hope, this series would only leave us crushed.

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to stay “born this way.” Through Christ, you can be born again. Transformation is not just possible — it is promised.

📝 Christianity is not about behavior modification. It’s about life transformation.

From Death to Life

📜 Ephesians 2:4–5

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— (ESV)

The gospel doesn’t say, “Try harder.” It says, “You were dead. God made you alive.”

  • Dead in lust, alive in purity.

  • Dead in greed, alive in generosity.

  • Dead in lies, alive in truth.

  • Dead in sin, alive in Christ.

Transformation is not self-help. It is resurrection.

A New Creation

📜 2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (ESV)

This is not a metaphor. It’s a reality. In Christ, you are not a polished-up version of your old self. You are a new creation altogether.

📝 The world says, “Be true to yourself.” Christ says, “Be made new in Me.”

The Process of Sanctification

Transformation begins at salvation but continues throughout life.

  • Instantly: You are justified — forgiven, cleansed, made righteous in God’s sight.

  • Ongoing: You are sanctified — day by day, the Spirit reshapes you to look more like Jesus.

  • Future: You will be glorified — in eternity, sin will be fully gone, and perfection restored.

📜 Philippians 1:6

6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (ESV)

You are not stuck in sin. You are on a journey of transformation.

Freedom From Sin’s Power

One of the enemy’s favorite lies is, “You’ll never change. This is who you are.”

But listen to Scripture:

📜 Romans 6:6

6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. (ESV)

📜 Romans 6:14

14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. (ESV)

Christ not only forgives sin’s penalty but also breaks sin’s power.

📝 You may feel the pull of old desires, but you are no longer chained to them. You are free.

Living in the Spirit

Transformation is not about willpower; it’s about Spirit-power.

📜 Galatians 5:16

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (ESV)

When you walk in the Spirit:

  • Lust loses its grip.

  • Greed loses its allure.

  • Anger loses its control.

  • Addiction loses its chains.

The Spirit equips you to live out what Christ has already won for you.

The Testimony of the Redeemed

The greatest proof of transformation in Christ is changed lives. Paul says:

📜 1 Corinthians 6:11

11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (ESV)

The church is full of “used-to-be’s.” Used to be drunkards. Used to be liars. Used to be adulterers. Used to be homosexuals. Used to be greedy.

But no one in Christ is a “used-to-be” forever. They are now sons and daughters of God.

Final Thought

Being born into sin is reality. Staying there is not destiny. Jesus Christ offers transformation, a new identity, and eternal hope. You don’t have to excuse sin as who you are. You can proclaim the gospel truth: “That’s who I was, but this is who I am now — alive in Christ.”

Ask Yourself:

  • Do I truly believe that change is possible through Christ, or do I secretly think I’m stuck “this way”?

  • Where in my life am I still clinging to old labels instead of embracing my new identity?

  • Am I walking in the Spirit daily, or relying on my own strength?
