Zechariah - Visions of Restoration and a Coming King

Minor Prophets

Author(s):

Zechariah

Old Testament

📖 What It’s About

Zechariah is a rich and symbolic prophetic book filled with dream-like visions, angelic encounters, and messianic promises. It was written to encourage the remnant of Israelites returning from exile, calling them to finish rebuilding the temple and to lift their eyes to a future hope.

While the people were focused on stone and wood, Zechariah was focused on hearts and heaven. Through a series of wild visions and poetic prophecies, he reveals that God not only desires a physical temple but a purified people — and one day, a righteous King would come riding on a donkey.

🪞 Reflection + Application

  • Am I trying to rebuild my life in my own strength — or by God’s Spirit?

  • Where do I need cleansing before I can worship fully?

  • How seriously do I take God’s jealousy — His deep desire for my full devotion?

  • Do I live in light of Christ’s past coming and His future reign?

  • What “vision” is shaping my choices — comfort, fear, or Kingdom?

Zechariah is a prophet for the rebuilding heart —

For the one discouraged in the work… or unsure if it still matters.

He reminds us that God finishes what He starts, not through force, but through His Spirit.

And when it feels like darkness wins, look again.

The King is coming — humble, pierced, and eternal.
